The second module, Your own web development environment under Linux, commences on 10 December 2024, 20:20 LKT.
This module, like the first one, is an instructor-led, fully on-line workshop with multiple sessions. In this module you will set up a web development environment on your PC or laptop running the Linux operating system in a virtual environment and start developing for the web - naturally all with Free and Open Source Software!
Note that the offer has been extended to those who haven't passed the selection test and also applicants to previous batches who have not addmitted to a university.
Prerequisites
- You will need a good understanding of any operating system.
- You need to have a basic understanding of the world wide web.
- You will need a fairly powerful computer not older than 10 years. Minimum hardware requirements are: 4 CPU core, 4 GB RAM and 5 GB spare disk space. As the host the operating systems Windows 10 or 11, current versions of macOS and Linux are supported. Mobile devices are unsuitable.
Please note that this will be a demanding exercise for those of you who haven't have some skill in Linux. Therefore the completion of the first module or something equivalent is highly recommended, but is not compulsory. For those who haven't done the first module a self-learn version of it will go on-line simultaneously with this module.

Note that there is a preparation exercise which need to be done before the first session, 10 December 2024 20:20 LKT. You will get the instructions through the LMS.
